Patiently Endure (Scripture Memory Verse # 8)

“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure.” (1 Corinthians 10:13, NLT)

“And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, ‘God is tempting me.’ God is never tempted to do wrong, and He never tempts anyone else. Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away.” (James 1:13-14, NLT)

“Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” (Mark 14:38, NLT)

“Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path…” (Galations 6:1a, NLT)

“God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation.” (James 1:12a, NLT)

Thoughts on Fighting Temptation

1 – Know the facts: Temptations will come. And temptations are always connected to our own desires.

2 – We must keep watch. Be alert. Pay attention. Be careful. We need to constantly remind ourselves to not give in to our desires.

3 – Pray. Stay in constant communication with God.

4 – Spend time in the Word. Study the Bible. Learn how the enemy will fight against you. And learn how to fight back against the enemy.

5 – When you see another believer fall into temptation and sin – GIVE THEM GRACE. Help them recover. Do not judge them. Love them. (Remember, some day you may need them to help you.)

“If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall.” (1 Corinthians 10:12, NLT)

What would you add to the list to help fight temptation?
